RV Camper Kitchen Remodel DIY
RV Camper Travel Trailer Kitchen Before and After Remodel
Have you ever tackled a kitchen renovation in your home? How about in a camper?

We remodeled the kitchen in our home a few years ago, and this was nothing like that! For starters, you have to worry about not adding too much weight to the RV. So the materials we used were a lot different than we used in our home.

CABINETS

For the cabinets, we primed using Rustoleum Chalked Paint. It adheres to plastic, which is basically what most camper cabinets are covered with. So we didn't sand the cabinets prior to painting them. We just made sure to clean them with Zep, which is a strong degreaser.

If the chalk paint isn't adhering to the cabinets well, just lightly sand and clean the spot, then paint.

For our paint, we used Zinsser Perma-White. You have to seal chalk paint, so that's why we used it as a primer. Latex paint adheres nicely to the chalk paint and seals it at the same time.

BACKSPLASH

We used peel and stick subway tiles for the kitchen backsplash. They are glossy and clean up really easily! You can cut them with scissors to go around outlets or other areas.  Simply peel and stick!

COUNTERTOP

We used wood grain contact paper. Again, we cleaned the existing countertops well, and just adhered the contact paper, carefully cutting around the stove and sink. Use a blow-dryer or heat gun to make the edges pliable and pull down over the edges to cover them.

REFRIGERATOR

We tried to spray paint the fridge, but it wouldn't adhere smoothly. So we just covered it with contact paper! It's faster, less messy and won't chip like paint!

There you have the basics! Have any questions? Let us know below!
